Amazon Prime Video is owned by Brian Williams. The veteran newscaster will deliver “election results and analysis” starting at 5PM ET on November 5. Interestingly, this is a free special and does not require a premium membership. And it will be broadcast live all over the world, not just in America.
Williams will be joined by a panel of stakeholders to discuss the return of the election and the whole thing will be overseen by industry veteran Glenn Weiss. He has directed countless live events, from the Oscars to the Emmys and beyond.
Amazon does not have a news section, so it will exclude results and comments from third-party sources on all political parties, . Williams said in a statement that he will “follow the story on election night wherever it leads.”
Albert Cheng, VP and head of Prime Video, says this is a “one-night-only” event, but it hasn’t happened before. Prime Video has made it available for live streaming for the first time, even to people who don’t subscribe to the service.
As for Williams, he hosted the NBC Nightly News broadcast for more than a decade. The broadcaster stepped down on some of his reports, particularly on news from Iraq and related to Hurricane Katrina.
