Matt Hayward/Getty ImagesIn July, the first involuntary manslaughter charge against Baldwin, 66, was dismissed by a First District Judge. Mary Marlowe Sommer at the Santa Fe, New Mexico courthouse. The judge agreed with Baldwin’s lawyers that prosecutors withhold evidence that may be related to the murder. Baldwin was in tears when the judge handed down his decision on July 12.
“There’s no way the court is going to fix this,” Marlowe Sommer told the court, per NBC News. “The penalty of dismissal is the only valid remedy.”
The dismissal was prejudicial, meaning the manslaughter charge against Baldwin will not be refiled.
