Private carrier Air India on Wednesday introduced Wi-Fi internet connectivity services on domestic and international flights on its wide-body Airbus A350 and Boeing 787-9 fleet and on select Airbus A321neo aircraft.

This makes Air India the first airline to offer these services on flights within India, the airline said.

Accessible from Wi-Fi-enabled devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones with iOS or Android apps, in-flight Wi-Fi will also allow guests to connect multiple devices simultaneously when above 10,000 feet, it said.

The deployment of Wi-Fi on domestic routes follows an ongoing pilot program on international services operated by the Airbus A350, select Airbus A321 neo aircraft and Boeing B787-9 serving international destinations including New York, London, Paris and Singapore. Like the domestic offer, the Wi-Fi is compatible with the launch, Air India said.

Air India said it will further roll out the service to other airlines in its fleet over time.
