Adani Airport Holdings Ltd has partnered with IT major Thales to improve passenger experience by using smart airport technology called Fly to Gate solution and Airport Operation Control Center (APOC) at all managed airports in India. The move is aimed at promoting airport management and improving the passenger experience safely, an official press release said.

Earlier, Thales was providing the ‘Fly to Gate’ solution, DigiYatra’s biometric solution, at seven airports owned by AAHL in India. Fly to Gate is a self-service solution that uses advanced biometrics and identity management to create a digital Identity token for passengers to simplify airport operations, explains Thales. The system eliminates the need for pre-registered passengers to show appropriate documents at each checkpoint and reduces passenger processing time by up to 30 percent, it said.

DigiYatra uses facial recognition technology to digitally verify the identity of passengers at airports. However, there have been concerns about the privacy of user data on the platform.

APOC’s end-to-end solution is a cloud-based digital platform that aims to centralize airport management, security, and passenger experience. It uses operational data from the airport’s infrastructure, processes it with artificial intelligence and analytics to identify resource shortages. The company has confirmed that APOC complies with privacy standards. “The solution that will be deployed soon, will anticipate, and reduce unplanned resource shortages, hence increasing predictability and global efficiency,” said Thales.

To support the growth of Indian aviation

In this agreement, Thales India Director Ashish Saraf expressed the company’s commitment to support India’s goal of becoming the world’s largest aviation market by 2047.

“We are pleased to strengthen our partnership with Adani Airport Holdings Limited to deliver innovative technology solutions to transform airport operations and passenger experience in India. Our DigiYatra Fly to Gate biometric solution and smart Airport Operation Control Center (APOC) will enable AAHL to streamline operations and ensure a safe and streamlined journey for millions of passengers….,” he said.
