A Pediatric Dermatology Training Center was inaugurated at the government-run Osmania General Hospital (OGH) in Hyderabad on Thursday (October 3, 2024). The establishment of this center marks a step forward in dealing with pediatric skin diseases, which account for 30 to 40 percent of skin conditions in children. By providing early diagnosis and specialized treatment, the center aims to reduce complications and improve patient outcomes, ensuring better skin health for children – something that is important to the body and national health, said hospital superintendent Rakesh Sahay.

He said that this center under the Department of Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprology (DVL), is the first in a government center in India.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Bhumesh Kumar Katakam, professor and head of the Department of DVL, who also serves as the program director of the new institute and the honorary general secretary of the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists, and Leprologists (IADVL).
