A man has been arrested for allegedly issuing “death threats” to the Haryana chief minister in a WhatsApp group in Julana, police said on Saturday.
The suspect has been identified as Ajmer, a native of Deverar village in Jind district.
Jind Superintendent of Police Sumit Kumar said Ajmer made death threats on October 8, the day of counting of votes in the state, in a WhatsApp group.
“When the matter came to the attention of the police, an FIR was registered and Ajmer was arrested,” he said.
Congress candidate and contender Vinesh Phogat won the Julana assembly seat, defeating his nearest rival and BJP candidate Yogesh Kumar by 6,015 votes.
