A Bengaluru techie locks herself in a hotel room alleging abuse by her uncle

A 24-year-old private firm employee is accused of committing suicide by setting himself on fire in a hotel room because his relative was embarrassed by their private videos on Saturday.

The police arrested the suspect on Sunday and took him into custody for further investigation.

Late Suhasi Singh worked with a reputed IT company in Bengaluru. Ms Singh allegedly drowned herself on January 12 and died in hospital.

HAL police arrested Praveen Singh, charging him with suspicion and suicide. Police said Suhasi was Praveen’s nephew. The incident took place at a hotel near the Kundalahalli metro station at 8 pm, where the two had reportedly met to “fix the matter”.

The police also found Praveen’s pen and sent it for testing. More details are awaited.

The suspect was married and it is said that he was having an affair with the victim who used to visit his house.

The accused started cheating on her when the victim started avoiding her, threatening to send secret videos to her parents and demanding favors from her. The defendant had booked a hotel room and called the victim, who set himself on fire after an argument in the hotel room.
