As the fashion world turns to the Spring/Summer 2025 runways in New York, London, Milan, and Paris, my eyes are on the best-dressed guests showcasing the Fall 2024 trends. Street style during this time of year is a master class in the most desirable looks of the season, and I’m taking notes. From suede everything to black denim, my Instagram feed has turned into a fall bucket list that I can’t wait to start ticking off.
This year, the best way I can describe the fall 2024 fashion trends is to go back to basics. When I envision the style of the season, I see 50 shades of brown, well-tailored blazers, over-the-knee boots, and cute suede bags. The trends taking over my social media and shopping pages reflect that: true, classic fall fashion. What’s more, they all go together easily, pairing well together while also making a statement on their own.

Fall 2024 Fashion Trends to Inspire Your Seasonal Style
Suede colors
This fall, suede takes over in the form of bags, boots, blazers, and belts. From buttery soft bags to hot jackets, this tactile trend elevates everyday looks with its rich texture and luxurious look. While browns and black shades are very common in suede, consider making a statement with a deep burgundy tone or green. The possibilities are endless, so feel free to make this trend your own.
While suede tends to come at a higher price point, if you’re not looking to invest in such a seasonal fabric, there are plenty of faux-suede options on the market that can achieve the look for less. However, when you’re ready to pull out the suede, remember that it’s fragile by nature, so your purchase should also include a good protective spray to keep your pieces clean over the years.
Everything But the Barn
Allow me to introduce you to the outerwear staple in everyone’s fall wardrobe: the barn jacket. Originally inspired by Dôen, this light layer captures the classic countryside, Ralph Lauren aesthetic that is so popular. These formal, yet comfortable and casual jackets are popping up on almost every site at every price point, so while capturing this trend may require buying, you can decide whether to splurge or save. Bonus points if your husband or father has the classic version lying around.
The key to nailing this outfit is in the mix—pair your barn jacket with pieces that create an interesting mix of styles and styles, as seen at Hannah Porter. The neutral colors of this jacket will go with everything, so don’t be afraid to get creative in your wardrobe. I personally can’t wait to style the jacket with white boxer shorts and loafers for a casual look.
Paint the Town Brown
From rich chocolates to soft tans and everything in between, brown is undoubtedly the color of the season. Versatile and sophisticated, this is a trend you can comfortably invest in, as the color isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. If you would normally choose a black coat, sweater, bag, or boots, try choosing brown this year to bring more warmth to your look.
For a less monochromatic look, play with different colors and brown textures within the same outfit, as Hannah Chody effortlessly did. I love the idea of styling a brown maxi skirt with a chunky chocolate sweater for an easy night out. Accessories are also a great way to dip your toe into this trend. A pair of brown boots or a structured tan bag can instantly upgrade your existing wardrobe.
Denim on Denim on Denim
The idea of the Canadian tuxedo is by no means a new fashion trend for 2024, but it’s getting a high fashion upgrade this fall. The secret to finding this habit? Mix and match different shades, washes, and textures to add depth and interest to your outfit. Although traditionally a casual look, an all-denim fit can easily be elevated by pairing with polished pieces like pointed heels, a textured leather bag, or chunky statement jewelry.
Need a formula for styling clothes? Start with your favorite jeans, add a contrasting denim jacket or button-down, and separate the two shades with a simple belt. Throw on some classic slingbacks and earrings, dress with confidence and ease, and you’re good to go! Of all the fall 2024 fashion trends, this one is ineffective and fool-proof.
Boots & Buckles
Moto boots are revitalizing fall fashion, bringing an edge to everything from flowy outfits to embellished suits. These sturdy boots, often adorned with buckets, are no longer reserved for motorcycle enthusiasts—they’re a staple in any fall wardrobe.
For a functional accent, pair your chunky ankle boots with something unexpected like a soft slip dress or a flowing maxi skirt. Don’t be afraid to play with different lengths and styles—ankle-high car boots work well for everyday wear, while knee-high versions make a bold statement for a night out.
Timeless Sewing
This fall, fashion embraces the enduring appeal of fine tailoring, proving that a well-fitted garment never goes out of style. The focus is on clean lines, precise cuts, and flattering silhouettes that create a classic, polished look. Invest in a well-tailored blazer—it’s a staple of this trend and can elevate any outfit. Look for blazers with subtle details like slightly tucked shoulders or a cinched waist to add a modern touch to a timeless look. Pair your blazer with matching trousers for a chic look, or throw it over a slip silk dress for a perfect evening ensemble.
Remember, the key to nailing this trend is in the details—even a simple white shirt can make a statement if it fits you well. Accessorize your tailored look with minimal jewelry and cute, structured bags to maintain that clean, put-together aesthetic.
