Andhra Pradesh launches skill census in Mangalagiri on pilot basis

The Andhra Pradesh government has launched a skill census project, the first of its kind in India, on a pilot basis in Mangalagiri and Thullur Mandal.

The project will be carried out in 100 villages, where village secretaries have been given permission to log in.

675 enumerators will visit 1,61,421 families, 1,35,914 in Mangalagiri division and 25,507 houses in Thullur Mandal, to collect census data, the government said in a statement.

The mobile app is designed to collect census data and enumerators receive the necessary training to use it. A technical team has been established to assist the field teams and mapping has been completed.

Officials from the Skill Development Headquarters will closely monitor the progress of the pilot project and any problems will be rectified before taking the project nationwide, official sources said on Monday.

The main purpose of the skills census is to identify the talent in the youth and extend the necessary training to them before giving them better job opportunities.
