Ben Affleck And Matt Damon Documentary Feud Intensifies

The Academy has a rule in effect that in order for a film to be eligible for an Oscar nomination, it must be playing “in the same motion picture theater” at least three times a day in a calendar week.

In early 2024, the Academy revised its policies under the Special Rules for the Documentary Film Award to require the same number of minor shows, which seemed to sink the chances of Ben Affleck and Matt Damon to confirm their conflict.

But Nenad Cicin-Sain, the director of Kiss the futuretold the media that this section of the school’s stated rules applies to film submissions NOT documentary films.
