Texas teachers: Our hearts breaks the sadness and threats you experience right now. For yourselves, in your families, and students and the school communities you love very much. Many of us are teachers the community associated with Kerr County and other districts that affect the dragons, this sadness sounds from own, quickly, and grinding.

I have lived all my life on Texas shores and I have a few floods – a few storms, storms, and miss near Tornado. I was teaching during the 2017 Harvey 2017, where many learners and colleagues here in Houston lost homes, cars, and perfect neighbors. But what happened now in Kerr County is a heart-up to a different degree.

We regret the valuable lives lost. We mourn the destruction of homes, schools and sacred public spaces. We also acknowledge a heavy fact: For many, the difficult parts of the trip is before.

If you are a teacher taking the pieces now, I know you may not have space to be proud of your energy or stiffness. You can feel tired, angry, afraid, or just disabled. (If so, you may want to continue and the bookmark this to return when you’re ready.) But if that moment you’ve already grateful, and maybe you have left the same words for this school’s inspiration.

This school year, “have conditions” will take a new meaning.

Teachers have already made changes to converts. But when your school is under water, your class has gone, and suddenly teaches a gym or a church hallway – without getting technology, books, or even basic things – fluctuations reach the whole new level.

Hold your plans freely. When you meet your students – either in person or about – may require a ring space, ask questions, or just to be. Not that is enough for the day.

Thus arts will build.

You might not feel your game this year. Learning strategies may feel compiled together. You can’t reach all the benches or cover the whole unit. OK.
