Saif Ali Khan’s stabbing case: The investigation into the stabbing of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan continued as authorities on Saturday arrested the assailant from Durg, Chhattisgarh, according to sources.
It came after the Railway Protection Force (RPF) received information about the attacker, Aakash Kanojia, who was traveling in the Jnaneswari Express train from the Assistant Police Inspector of Juhu police station, Mumbai Police.
As he was tipped off, two teams were formed at Durg station and when the train arrived, the suspect was tracked down and arrested. A picture of the suspect has been sent to the Mumbai police who are confirming the suspect’s identity, sources said.
After the arrest, the suspect was brought to RPF Post Durg and Mumbai police officials were informed about the development through video call, sources said.
They added that a team of Mumbai police had flown to Raipur and nab the suspect at an early stage. The suspect is currently being kept under guard at RPF Post Durg.
Saif Ali Khan was stabbed six times, including in the neck and shoulder, at his apartment in Bandra West around 2:30 am on Thursday. He was rushed to Lilawati Hospital where the 2.5-inch metal was removed from his spine after a five-hour operation.
Doctors say Khan is still in critical condition and is recovering. He has been taken out of the ICU (intensive care unit), said doctors treating him after he was stabbed by a thug at his Mumbai residence.
