Two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were injured on Friday after an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxals exploded in Chhattisgarh, police said.
The incident took place in Abujmarh’s Narayanpur district, a Naxal hotbed, when the road opening team – a team responsible for ensuring the safe movement of army vehicles – was out on a morning patrol.
The IED exploded when the road opening party was heading to Garpa, a nearby village, from their camp, injuring two, the police chief said, adding that the injured dogs were being treated at a hospital.
This incident happened two days after a citizen was killed and three were injured in two separate incidents in the same district.
On Thursday, two CRPF dogs were injured in another IED blast by Naxalites in neighboring Bijapur district.
A similar IED blast left a 10-year-old child and two policemen injured in Sukma district.
About eight policemen and their driver were killed when an IED was planted by Naxals in Bijapur and left Bijapur on January 6.
