Delhi Police has registered an FIR against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for allegedly posting AI-generated photos and videos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the party’s official handle, police sources said.
A case has been registered under appropriate sections at the North Avenue police station, they said, without giving details of the Fire.
According to sources, they have received a complaint about objectionable pictures and videos of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister on the official handle of X of the Aam Aadmi Party.
The alleged videos were posted by AAP on January 10 and January 13.
One of the videos – created by AI-deepfake technology – showed a scene from a 90s Bollywood flick where the faces of the thugs were swapped with those of BJP leaders and the audio was changed to a discussion about the Delhi polls, the official said. .
After analyzing the complaint, the police officer said, an FIR has been opened and an investigation has been started on the matter.
Reacting to the development, the Aam Aadmi Party said it is the BJP’s “standard SOP” as elections approach.
False cases are filed to divert attention from real issues affecting people. Their next move is likely to target Chief Minister Atishi and Manish Sisodia for arrests and raids as part of their political action, the AAP statement said.
“However, no fire will be imposed on BJP leaders who are deliberately involved in illegal activities like falsifying the voter list – adding false entries and eliminating genuine voters – or those who try to buy votes by giving money and gifts,” it said.
This “exclusive use of power and misuse of government machinery reveals BJP’s fear of growing popularity and AAP’s commitment to public welfare,” the AAP statement said.
