‘Kaun hain?’: Kapil Dev’s blunt reaction to Yograj Singh’s recent controversial comments | Cricket news

Former India captain Kapil Dev had a vague response to questions asking for his reaction to Yograj Singh’s claim about how he went to Dev’s house with a gun after he was dropped from the team.

“When Kapil Dev became the captain of India, North Zone, and Haryana, he dropped me for no reason,” said Yograj, Yuvraj Singh’s father, “Unfiltered by Samdish.”

“My wife (Yuvi’s mother) wanted me to ask Kapil some questions. I told him that I will teach this bloody person a lesson. I took out my gun and went to Kapil’s house in Sector 9. He came out with his mother. I tortured him twelve times. I told him because of you I lost a friend and what you did, you will pay. I said to him, ‘I want to put a bullet in your head, but I won’t do it because you have a very loyal mother, who is standing here.’ I said to Shabinamu, ‘Let’s go,’ he added.

When asked about Yograj’s comment, Dev initially replied “Kaun hain? (Who is he?)” and when told that it was Yuvraj’s father Yograj, he quietly asked the reporters if they had any other questions.

Yograj played one Test and six ODIs for India during the tour of Australia and New Zealand in 1980-81.

Recently, he has been in the news for many controversial statements against his former colleagues, including the late Bishan Singh Bedi.

“These boys, including Bishan Singh Bedi, are conspiring against me. I have never forgiven Bishan Singh Bedi. The man died in his bed,” he said.

“When I was released I spoke to Ravindra Chadha, one of the selectors. He told me that Bishan Singh Bedi (chief selector) didn’t want to pick me because they thought I was Sunil Gavaskar’s man and because I was playing cricket in Mumbai. I was very close to Gavaskar.”
