Rajasthan: Bus conductor attacks retired IAS officer over Rs 10 fare in Jaipur

A retired IAS officer was beaten up by a bus conductor for allegedly refusing to pay Rs 10 surcharge in Rajasthan’s Jaipur.

According to the police, the incident took place on January 10 when a retired IAS officer, RL Meena, 75, was not dropped at the right stop, after which he refused to pay another fare.

Meena was meant to get off the bus at the Kanota bus stop on Agra Road, but the conductor, Ghanshyam Sharma, did not inform her when the stop arrived.

When the bus reached the next stop at Nayla, Sharma asked Meena to pay an additional fare of Rs 10, which she refused.

An argument broke out between the conductor and Meena, when Ghanshyam pushed Meena. In response, the retired IAS officer slapped Sharma, who was then beaten repeatedly by the conductor until Meena got off the bus.

The video of this incident has gone viral on social media, following the registration of a case against Ghanshyam at the Kanota police station. He was suspended by Jaipur City Transport Services Limited for misconduct.
