“A four-member team headed by Jharkhand State Minority Commission (JSMC) chairman Hedayatullah Khan was formed to investigate the alleged killing of a man in Seraikela-Kharswan district last December,” officials said on Sunday (January 12, 2025). ).
The JSMC has taken notice of the incident after All India Minority Welfare Front spokesperson Sarfraz Hussain, in a letter, demanded an inquiry into the alleged harassment of Sheikh Tazuddin in Adityapur.
“We set up a four-member team headed by Khan on Saturday (January 11, 2025) and decided to investigate the matter,” said a senior official of the commission.
“The team will visit Kapali on Monday (January 13, 2025) to meet the family members of the deceased to get details of the incident,” said Mr Khan.
“The JSMC team will also have a meeting with senior district officials at the Kapali Council hall to get the details of the report taken in this regard,” he said.

Mr Khan said that the JSMC sought a report from the Superintendent of Police in the Seraikela-Kharswan district on December 26 last year but so far has not received a response.
SP Mukesh Kumar Lunayat said on Wednesday (January 8, 2025) that a sub-district police officer (Seraikela) has been entrusted with the investigation and has been asked to submit a report, which is still ongoing.
However, the four accused surrendered before the Jamshedpur court.
The SP had said that Tazuddin died while being treated at the hospital about a week after the incident.
