Three Bangladeshis were arrested in Bengal in Bongaon for illegally entering India

Three Bangladeshis have been arrested in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas region for allegedly entering India without official documents, an official said on Saturday (January 11, 2025).

The three, identified as Mohammad Sohag Mia, Hasan Mia and Yasin Sarkar, revealed during interrogation that they were planning to visit another country with a fake passport.

“They were picked up by the police on Bongaon-Bagda Road in Bongaon town, which is close to the international border, after they were seen roaming suspiciously on Friday (January 10, 2025),” the official said.

“They were brought before the court, which sent them to police custody for four days on Saturday (January 11, 2025),” he said.

The country they were said to be planning to go to after receiving the forged documents, is currently unknown.

An investigation into the fake passport hacking and Aadhaar card rackets, with suspected links to Bangladeshi immigrants, is ongoing.
