Lamar Jackson beat out Josh Allen, while Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson are joint selections for The Associated Press 2024 NFL All-Pro Team.
Saquon Barkley received 48 of 50 first-place votes, while Patrick Surtain II received 49 from a national panel of media members who cover the division.
“Wow, that’s crazy,” Jefferson said of his unanimous and second overall selection. “Respect right there. Love.”
Jackson received 30 first-place votes to Allen’s 18, making the team for the second year in a row and third overall. Peyton Manning (seven) and Aaron Rodgers (four) are the only quarterbacks with more All-Pro nods during the Super Bowl than Jackson.
Linebacker Roquan Smith, slot cornerback Marlon Humphrey and linebacker Patrick Ricard joined Jackson from the Ravens (12-5).
The NFC-leading Lions (15-2) had four players selected: wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, right tackle Penei Sewell, safety Kerby Joseph and punter Jack Fox.
“They know what’s going on,” said Joseph, who led the NFL with nine interceptions but withdrew from the Pro Bowl.
Barkley, who rushed for 2,005 yards in 16 games in his first season with the Eagles (14-3), and linebacker Zack Baun were first-team selections for Philadelphia. Barkley sat out the final game of the regular season with the Eagles locked in at No. 2 instead of chasing Eric Dickerson’s 40-year-old single-season record.
Browns running back Myles Garrett and 49ers quarterback Fred Warner were each selected fourth.
Buccaneers left tackle Tristan Wirfs was the first player selected at both tackle spots. Prior to 2016, the All-Pro system included two tackles but did not distinguish between right and left tackles. Wirfs got it right in 2021. He changed positions in 2023.
“It’s very special,” he said. “It’s something I wanted to do, I wanted to achieve.”
Fourteen players are first-timers, including Raiders rookie tight end Brock Bowers. He received 27 first-place votes to George Kittle’s 22.
Chiefs center Creed Humphrey and left guard Joe Thuney and Broncos right guard Quinn Meinerz make up the offense.
Cincinnati’s Trey Hendrickson, who led the league with 17.5 sacks, joined Garrett at edge rusher.
“That’s an honor and an honor,” Hendrickson said.
Chris Jones of Kansas City and Cameron Heyward of Pittsburgh are the infielders. Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. and Packers safety Xavier McKinney joined Surtain, Humphrey and Joseph in the secondary.
“It’s a great honor,” Surtain said. “That’s one of the awards I’ve been aiming for.”
Stingley, the No. 3 pick in 2022 just ahead of two-time All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner, also had two injury-plagued seasons and played every game to help Houston win its second straight NBA title. -AFC South.
“It’s really about the secondary as a unit, how we come together when it comes to communication, when the ball is in the air and different types of things like that. I’d like to focus more on that than the individual,” Stingley said.
Steelers kicker Chris Boswell, Cowboys punt returner KaVontae Turpin, Broncos punt returner Marvin Mims Jr., Patriots special teams ace Brenden Schooler and Vikings wide receiver Andrew DePaola and Fox are the teams. special ones are preferred.
Jackson was also an All-Pro in 2019 and 2023. He was the NFL MVP both seasons and Baltimore had the AFC’s No. 1 seed. 1 both years but failed to reach the Super Bowl. Jackson received 30 first-place votes, Allen received 18 and Joe Burrow received two.
Ravens running back Derrick Henry received two first-place votes that did not go to Barkley.
