Reds vs Red Devils green light: Liverpool vs Manchester United to go ahead as planned despite weather threat | Football news

One of the most anticipated matches in the English calendar, Liverpool’s Premier League match against Manchester United, will go ahead as scheduled on Sunday despite the inclement weather and snow.

“Today’s match against Manchester United will continue as planned. Two safety meetings were held beforehand to check weather and travel conditions,” @LFC posted on X. “Thanks to everyone involved in helping this game go ahead today. If you go to Anfield please take extra care. We look forward to seeing you there.”

“Following a second security meeting, it has been decided that today’s match between Manchester United and Liverpool will go ahead,” @ManUtd confirmed. “Weather warnings were in place across the North West on Sunday but it has been deemed safe for fans to attend the event which kicks off at 16:30 GMT (10pm IST). Be careful if you go to Merseyside today.”

United are in poor form under new manager Ruben Amorim while Liverpool top the table with 45 points and a game in hand over the other title contenders. They are five points adrift of second-placed Arsenal, while United, who have lost five of their six league games, are in 14th place with 22 points.

Liverpool’s Merseyside derby against Everton was postponed last month due to bad weather caused by a storm.
