The dreaded gangster, a member of the Chhota Rajan gang, was arrested on Friday by the Mumbai police, 32 years after he went on the run. The gangster, Raju Chikanya alias Vilas Pawar, was wanted for the 1992 murder and shooting incident.
According to the police, Pawar opened fire at Mumbai’s Dadar police station in 1992. A case of shooting and murder was registered at the Dadar police station at that time.
Another case was filed at the Deonar police station under several provisions of the IPC, including 307 (attempt to murder), 34 (acts by several persons in furtherance of common objectives), 3 (offence committed outside India) and 25 (intent to defraud. ) .
He was also wanted for murder and in another case registered at the Alibaug police station.
Despite many attempts, Pawar managed to avoid arrest all these years.
A member of Chhota Rajan’s dreaded gang, Pawar was infamous for clinging to his stronghold, Govandi, Mumbai, and operating with impunity throughout the 80s.
Pawar will be produced before a local court later. The police will investigate where he is and how he managed to evade arrest for the past 32 years.
