“2024 was a HUGE year for me,” Scerciati, 40, wrote on Instagram on Tuesday, December 31, reflecting on his life change.
The actress shared a photo of her bare baby bump in a bikini to show that she is one year pregnant and has welcomed it with her husband. Eli Kay-Oliphantthe second child.
“I thought I was good at being a working expectant mother — swipe to see how different my daughter is,” she teased, sharing a photo of her eldest child that showed Squerciati making a crazy face while her partner and daughter smiled.

Scerciati also explained why he is absent from all the episodes of the current season Chicago PD., returning with new episodes on Wednesday, January 8. (She has played Kim Burgess since the show premiered in 2014.)
“PS. THIS was the real reason I wasn’t on the first two episodes of #ChicagoPD,” he added. “I had a child. Have a great NYE, friends!”
She ended the post with a series of hashtags summarizing her 2024 including “#workingmom,” “#motherofdragons,” “#MamaInMiami,” “#PregnancyGlow” and “ChicagoPDStrong.”

Squerciati did not reveal any other details about her new baby, like she did with her first child. The actress welcomed a daughter in May 2017, but has kept her name a secret.
Squerciati, however, gave fans a glimpse of her life as a mother through social media. Recently, he took his child to see him & Juliet on Broadway in Chicago.
“We don’t need no stinkin’ Romeo,” she captioned the December 5 photos, which included both Squerciati and her daughter wearing wigs at the event. “And I didn’t succeed at work! We hit the wigs in the elevator, I ate my dinner on El Platform, and we had to run a few blocks! (I wanted to give you the truth behind the IG photos 🫠).”
Besides welcoming a new baby, squerciati was filming season 12 of Chicago PD Earlier this season, her character became a detective, but fans are still hoping for a TV wedding between Burgess and her fiance Adam Ruzek (Patrick Flueger).
Squerciati, on the other hand, was told only Us Weekly in November that he is just as excited about an event that could happen later this season.

After all of Burgess and Ruzek’s ups and downs on the show — they got engaged for the third time during season 11 — Scerciati wants production to go all out on their big day.
“I want a white dress moment. “Burgess needs a white dress,” he agreed. “Of course Burgess picks dahlias too, as a centerpiece with candles. Come on, give the girl a moment!”
