SP team visits Sambhal, gives Rs 5 lakh each to families of violence victims Nov 24 | Lucknow news

A Samajwadi Party (SP) delegation on Monday visited Sambhal and distributed checks of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of those killed in the November 24 violence in the district during a court-ordered search at a mosque.

The checks were distributed by opposition leader Mata Prasad Pandey, who was leading the SP delegation, at the guest house of the Public Works Department. He also contacted the families of the victims.

Speaking to reporters, Pandey said that the police are harassing Muslims and that the government has no sympathy for them.

“They only know (underworld don) Dawood Ibrahim, they don’t know Abdul Hamid or Brigadier Usman who sacrificed their lives to secure the country’s borders,” he said.

“They don’t have good in their hearts, they are creating tension between Hindus and Muslims,” said the SP leader.

Pandey also accused the BJP of creating anger among the people for its own benefit.

“The police said that those killed in this violence were not shot. Whenever illegal weapons are taken, they keep them in the store and when they need to take them out, they say that the deceased was not killed by police bullets,” he said.

Four people were killed and more than 25, including a security guard, were injured in the violence that broke out in Kot Garvi area here on November 24 when some locals clashed with the police following a court-ordered survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid on a petition that said. that the temple of Harihar formerly stood in the place.

After the violence, foreigners were banned from entering the region. A delegation of SP MPs who were visiting Sambhal were stopped by the police.
