The Chiefs sit at the top, thanks to a tough win over the Falcons, but if the first three weeks of the 2024 season are any indication, we have an open race to find a team that can challenge the defenders. famous NFL players.
Right now, that team looks like it could be the Vikings, who are thriving with quarterback Sam Darnold and a stifling defense. Meanwhile, the Eagles and Steelers are grinding, and the Bills are hiding.
Here are my Top 10 for Week 3 of the 2024 season.
1. Kansas City Chiefs
Back-to-back champions continue to find ways to win. It’s not as good as it was when their strong offense led them, but they are a solid team led by a disruptive defense that makes timely plays. With defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo willing to turn off pressure at key times to get stops, the Chiefs can close games with Patrick Mahomes on the sidelines. Given their prowess and unwavering belief, Kansas City is still the team to beat in 2024.
2. Minnesota Vikings
After racing to a 3-0 start with wins over several opponents (the San Francisco 49ers and the Houston Texans), it’s time for the league to put the Vikings on the list of title contenders. Defensive coordinator Brian Flores breaks down opponents with a creative scheme that allows his forwards to wreak havoc in various areas of the field. As the unit also brings physicality and exceptional toughness, the Vikings challenge the mental and physical abilities of opponents who cannot cope with the rush of the giants in blue.
3. Philadelphia Eagles
Saquon Barkley made amends for his late-game mistake in Week 2 with an impressive performance against the Saints this week. The All-Pro totaled 158 scrimmage yards, showing the speed, quickness, and explosiveness to pick up distance from anywhere on the field. As opponents are increasingly forced to defend the Eagles’ dynamic running game, Jalen Hurts, & Co. they get a lot of room to play pitch-and-catch on the perimeter. With the Eagles facing a barrage of attacks, opponents will have a hard time stopping this team from lighting up the scoreboards in the league.
4. The Pittsburgh Steelers
Style points don’t matter to Mike Tomlin and his team. The Steelers are grinding out bad wins, relying on a stout defense and an open offense to shut down top-ranked opponents en route to a 3-0 start. While Justin Fields is getting comfortable as the team’s QB1 in the absence of Russell Wilson, offensive coordinator Arthur Smith is slowly developing a playbook to emphasize the fourth-year pro’s skills as a dual-threat player. As the results begin to show in the box score, the Steelers are quietly emerging as the strongest contenders to win against any opponent who uses the throwback method.
5. Buffalo bills
Josh Allen thrives out of the No. 1 wideout. 1 established on the perimeter. The two-time Pro Bowler spreads the ball around, relying on his scheme and development skills to create big plays in the passing game. With James Cook luring safeties into the box with his electric abilities as a runner, the Bills’ balanced attack style fits well with the team’s stout defense. If the Bills show up Monday night against the Jacksonville Jaguars, they deserve to be ranked as a top five team.
6. New Orleans Saints
Despite beating the Eagles so close, Dennis Allen’s squad is well established as an NFC heavyweight. The Saints’ explosive offense and turnover-oriented defense pose a challenge for teams that can’t play consistent football. Although the ball did not bounce the Saints’ way on Sunday, the team’s effort to lose to a top team suggests that they will be tough in a postseason competition that could produce surprising results.
7. Houston Texas
Sometimes, a good tail-kick can help a team regroup and refocus as title contenders. The Texans suffered a brutal beating at the hands of the Vikings, which exposed their sloppiness and lack of detail. From huge penalties to costly turnovers, the Texans helped their Week 3 opponent with their mistakes. With the blowout serving as a wake-up call, the Texans should be fired up and ready to bounce back next week.
8. Seattle Seahawks
Taking care of business against a team with a backup quarterback is the sign of a mature team, and that’s what the Seahawks did in beating the Dolphins on Sunday. Mike Macdonald’s side exceeded expectations with three strong outings to open the season. Defense is at the forefront, using a sticky style of play to keep the opposition strong at all times. With opponents struggling to score, the Seahawks can win with or without their offense bringing their A-game.
9. New York Jets
Aaron Rodgers is erasing his four-time MVP form as the leader of an electric offense with young players playing. Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson are borderline champions, with ready-to-play games, and Rodgers is putting the ball in their hands early and often. As the defense continues to evolve into a suffocating unit that can cover opponents without bringing in blitzes to generate pressure, the tough Jets could be a dangerous foe for playoff hopefuls.

10. Los Angeles Chargers
Justin Herbert’s high-ankle may hinder the Chargers offense in the short term, but a strong running game and strong defense will keep the team together until he returns to full health. Although Herbert’s absence contributed to the Week 3 loss, the Chargers continue to be in the hunt as an emerging heavyweight in the highly competitive AFC.
