Manmohan Singh’s wife Gursharan Kaur placed flowers on his body as his family paid their last respects. The former Prime Minister’s daughter lit a funeral pyre at the crematorium.

Dr Singh began his final journey from the Congress headquarters in the national capital where party leaders paid homage to the former Prime Minister earlier in the day. The procession carrying Singh’s body reached the crematorium around 11.30 am.

A garlanded car carrying Singh’s mortal remains left the Congress headquarters amid chants of “Manmohan Singh Amar Rahe”.

As a mark of respect to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, a seven-day national mourning is being observed during which the national flag will be flown at half-mast across the country, the Union Home Ministry announced.
