Prime Minister Narendra Modi has offered his condolences to the families of all the eight people who lost their lives in the horrific bus accident in Bathinda, Punjab.
He also announced a financial compensation of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the family members of each deceased person and an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 will be given to those injured in the accident.
“We are saddened by the death of people in a bus accident in Bathinda, Punjab. We offer our condolences to those who lost their lives. May the injured recover soon. A sum of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF will be given to the next of kin. Each deceased person will be given Rs 50,000,” the Prime Minister’s Office said on Friday. by X.
Eight people, including a two-year-old girl, died on Friday after a speeding bus crashed after the driver lost control of the vehicle, according to officials.
The Deputy Commissioner of Bathinda, Showkat Ahmad Parray, said that of the eight dead, five have been identified and three have not been identified.
“Eight people died unfortunately, including a two-year-old girl — five of them at Talwandi Hospital, and three others died at Public Hospital, Bathinda. Of the eight people, five have been identified and three have died and three have died. The bus was traveling at high speed… All the help that the government can do it will also extend to families,” added Parray.
Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal reported that 46 passengers were rescued.
“46 passengers were rescued. It has been confirmed that eight people have died. The health conditions of others are normal,” he said.
President Draupadi Murmu on Friday expressed his condolences to the families who lost their lives in the bus accident in Bathinda.
“I am deeply saddened by the news of the death of many people in a bus accident in Bathinda, Punjab. My condolences to all the bereaved families and I pray for a speedy recovery for all those injured in the accident,” President Murmu sent to X.
Aam Aadmi Party national convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also expressed his dismay over the Bathinda bus accident.
“The bus accident that happened in Bathinda is very painful. I sympathize with all the families who have lost their relatives in this accident. I pray to God that the people injured in the accident recover quickly and return home. I have spoken to Punjab CM Mann once, they should provide all possible help to all the victims and their families as soon as possible,” he wrote in -X.
