In an anti-Naxal campaign, the National Investigation Agency on Friday conducted investigations at several locations in Jharkhand’s Giridih in a case related to the Communist Party of India (Maoist), officials said.
During the raids, the houses and other premises of the accused and Naxal operatives were extensively searched by the NIA teams, who seized several mobile phones and SIM cards, among other incriminating items. The seized items are being examined.
The raid was prompted by the arrest of Krishna Hansda, the Naxal wing of the banned terrorist organization CPI (Maoist). Hansda, a District Committee Member of the CPI (Maoist), was arrested in Lucio forest area of ​​Dumri in January 2023.
During the investigation, the NIA, which took over the case in June 2023, uncovered links between several suspects and Naxals believed to be involved in supplying goods and electronics to the CPI (Maoist) in Parasnath area of ​​Giridih. Friday’s search was part of the NIA’s probe against the accused and Naxal operatives.
Further investigation into the case is ongoing, officials said.
In another case, NIA raids were also carried out in remote areas of Chhattisgarh on CPI (Maoist) attacks on polling and security forces during the 2023 Assembly elections.
At least 11 suspects were searched in Rawandiggi, Semra, Mainpur, Ghoragaon, Kerabahra and Gariyaband villages in the Maoist-infested areas of Gariyaband and Dhamtari districts, the investigation agency said in a statement.
“Investigations have established that the Mainpur-Nuapada division was responsible for the IED blast that killed an ITBP adhoc 615 officer during an attack on a polling team and security personnel who were returning from Badegobra village after voting during the Assembly elections in November last year. The names of the suspects have been searched. “They appeared today during the NIA’s investigation into this case,” said the statement.
According to the statement, leaflets, brochures, mobile phones and digital devices, Rs 1.5 lakh cash, and other items related to Naxals, were seized during the search. The anti-terrorist agency has so far produced ten suspects in the case.
