The rescue operation of a three-year-old girl who fell into a pot in Rajasthan five days ago was hit by heavy rain on Friday. Chetna, which fell into a borewell when he was playing on his father’s farm on Monday, he had been without food and water for five days.
The girl was trapped at a depth of 150 feet in a 700-foot borewell. A 170-meter tunnel parallel to the borewell, as well as an L-shaped pipeline, has been excavated. system is installed to reach Chetna. However, heavy rain prevented rescue teams from going down the tunnel to get him out safely.
Currently, work is going on to construct waterproof tents in the area of ​​Kotputli-Behror district. To protect the borewell from rainwater, it is securely covered on all sides.
Speaking about the operation, Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Sharma said that the authorities are determined to rescue Chetna, but occasional rains hamper the efforts.
When the rain subsided, the ‘rat miners’, who once helped rescue trapped workers in the Uttarakhand tunnel in 2023, he will come down and take out Chetna. The rescue operation has gone on for more than 100 hours, as continuous heavy rains hamper the excavation work.
The rescue operation was overseen by a joint team of NDRF, SDRF, and the district collector and police. At first, attempts were made to pull the girl out using a metal ring attached to a rope.
However, there was no luck and a bulldozer was brought to the site on Wednesday to excavate a tunnel parallel to the maternity ward. To speed up the work, a 100-ton crane was brought in on Thursday, which will replace the 50-ton machine.
A medical team and an ambulance have been dispatched. Once rescued, Chetna will be taken to Kotputli Hospital.
Chetna’s parents accused the authorities of negligence during the rescue operation. The health of his mother, who has not eaten since Monday, is fragile and she is being monitored by doctors.
