ChatGPT went down the day after Christmas

No, it wasn’t just you. The day after Christmas, ChatGPT stopped working for many.

OpenAI’s flagship chatbot experienced a major outage at 2 pm ET on Thursday, as some of its users were looking for something to do after the Christmas rush. According to Down Detector, tons of users reported that the site was not working for them during the afternoon, or the reports started going down after half an hour or so. That said, at the time of writing, ChatGPT is not working for me.

The deletion appeared in different ways depending on how I tried to use ChatGPT. On mobile, the “submit” button next to the text input field was grayed out and did nothing. On the desktop, I could send the message, but it would immediately be returned with an error message.

It just goes to show that OpenAI has some kinks to work out before it can achieve its lofty ambitions.
