Maharashtra ATS raids Bangladeshi illegal immigrants, arrests 17

The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), in collaboration with the local police, arrested 17 Bangladeshis, including 14 men and three women, for illegally entering and staying in India.

They were arrested after raids in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Nashik. Based on more information, this project was introduced to identify and take action against illegal immigrants in the province.

“ATS carried out this operation in the cities of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Nashik this week with the help of local police. At least 17 Bangladeshis, including 14 men and three women, were arrested for entering India without permission and staying in India. In the country without legal documents ,” the official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

Investigations have revealed that people are using fake documents, such as Aadhaar and PAN cards, to get fake IDs and stay in the country undetected.

At least 10 cases have been registered under the Foreign Affairs Act, 1946; Passport (Entry into India) Act, 1950; and the Passport Act, 1967.

Further investigations are underway at police stations.
