Haryana will launch an awareness campaign on the New Education Policy (NEP) on January 12, marking Swami Vivekananda Jayanti. The central government aims to implement the NEP by 2030, while Haryana plans to introduce it by 2025.
Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda said, “The state is fully prepared to implement NEP. As part of the awareness campaign, conferences will be organized to gather feedback from teachers in universities, colleges and schools. Proposals will also be solicited online in audio, video, and written formats. Additionally, students will use street plays to spread awareness about NEP.”
During a review meeting with officials of the Education Department on Tuesday, Dhanda stressed that Haryana should be a model for implementing NEP across the country, and directed the education department to prepare a detailed action plan for this purpose.
In order to directly involve students in the policy, Dhanda suggested that suggestion boxes be set up in colleges, schools and universities. “Based on the written proposals received, a framework will be created to develop the NEP. Seminars should be conducted in schools, colleges and universities to ensure that every student has a good understanding of NEP.”
Recognizing the role of digital technology in today’s era, the minister suggested the creation of an online portal for students to allow them to submit their proposals. “This portal will also be open to the general public, teachers and experts in the field of education, to ensure that everyone has easy access. This will help to avoid any difficulties for the students in the future course,” added the minister.
Additionally, he suggested appointing talented athletes, NCC lecturers and students as NEP brand ambassadors. “Their influence will help students to communicate with the policy easily,” said the minister.
The minister said the aim of NEP is to include students from disadvantaged areas in the education system. He ordered the Ministry of Education to make a strategy to ensure that no poor student is deprived of education.
