Days after releasing its final list of candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) two MLAs, Asim Ahmad Khan and Colonel Devendra Sehrawat, joined the Congress on Monday, intensifying the political rivalry in the national capital.
Asim Ahmad Khan, who was a minister in Arvind Kejriwal’s 2015 government, represented the Matia Mahal constituency from 2015 to 2020.
Colonel Devendra Sehrawat, another former AAP leader, served as the Member of Parliament for Bijwasan and was earlier elected as the AAP Member of Parliament.
Meanwhile, AAP has concluded its poll campaign in Delhi, releasing its fourth and final list of 38 on Sunday (December 15). Chief Minister Atishi will also contest from Kalkaji, while the party’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal will contest from New Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj will represent Greater Kailash.
In a significant change, AAP has replaced its current MLA from Kasturba Nagar, Madan Lal, with Ramesh Pehlwan. Pehlwan, along with his wife, councilor Kusum Lata, joined the AAP early on Monday after quitting the BJP.
