CPI(M) in Kerala holds talks after politburo member Vijayaraghavan’s comments against Rahul, Priyanka

The ruling CPI(M) leaders on Monday (December 23, 2024) met with the party’s politburo member A. Vijayaraghavan in a heated political debate over his remarks on the Lok Sabha poll victory of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra from Wayanad.

During a recent party event in Wayanad, Mr. Vijayaraghavan is reported to have said that Mr. Gandhi won the upper house twice with the support of civil forces and that dangerous elements were present at Ms Vadra’s campaign meetings.

The main leaders of the Marxist party on Monday said that Mr. Vijayaraghavan did not say anything wrong or against party policy and they will oppose minority communists and majority communists alike.

They also emphasized the charges raised by Mr. Vijayaraghavan against the Congress and accused the old party of entering into an “unholy relationship” with the civic outfit for electoral gains.

The CPI(M) leadership came out in support of the politburo member a day after the Congress and its United Democratic Front (UDF) ally, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), alleged that Mr. the community.

When the media sought his reaction, CPI(M) State Secretary MV Govindan said that Mr. What Vijayaraghavan said was accurate and he alleged that social outfits like SDPI and Jamaat-e-Islami were “working as allies of the UDF. .”

He alleged that their “collusion” was evident during the recent Palakkad Assembly meeting.

The criticism of Jamaat-e-Islami was not against the Muslim community and the opposition against the RSS was not against the Hindus, he said, adding that the CPI(M) would not show any compromise in opposing both the minority and the majority community. .

He is very supportive of Mr. Vijayaraghavan, a senior CPI(M) leader and LDF convener TP Ramakrishnan said the leader criticized the Congress party’s stand, saying it was building ties with communal forces during elections.

“Mr. Vijayaraghavan did not take any public stand. His comments were also not intended to promote communism. He took a step that would protect the public from communal forces,” he said.

Senior leader and former minister PK Sreemathi also said that Mr Vijayaraghavan did not say anything other than the policy and stance of the Marxist party.

Pointing out that communal forces and extremists are gaining power in the State, he said they cannot be allowed to flourish in Kerala.

“Whoever it is… whether it is Hindu communism or Muslim extremism, the CPI(M) will take strong action against it,” he said.

He also accused the Congress of forging ties with civil forces during elections.

On Sunday, Congress leaders accused Mr. Vijayaraghavan by commenting on Mr. Gandhi and Ms. Vadra to “please” the Sangh Parivar, while the IUML alleges that he is trying to rouse communalism in the masses.

AICC general secretary (association) KC Venugopal criticized Mr. Vijayaraghavan, accusing him of using the language of “community” that even the Sangh Parivar may be reluctant to hire against Mr Gandhi. Mr. Venugopal also asked if the CPI(M) shared the same view.

Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan echoed similar sentiments, charging the CPI(M) with pushing the same communal agenda propagated by the Sangh Parivar.

Criticizing Mr. Vijayaraghavan, KPCC president K. Sudhakaran accused the ruling CPI(M) of “indulging in extreme communism and supporting the RSS in the Government.”
