Prime Video goes back in time, and takes us back to a time when streaming platforms put together something unique and novel every week to keep us watching the screen at a time when everyone was at home due to the lockdown. After the launch of the second season of Bandish Bandits, the broadcaster is now bringing back the much-awaited second season of the gritty. Paatal Lok.

Announcing the release date with a new poster, Prime Video wrote, “The gates are open this year. New Season, Jan 17.” The next episode is expected to begin airing on January 17, and is directed by Avinash Arun, who not only helmed the first season, but went on to make the poignant feature, Our Three, between two seasons.

The series, helmed by Jaideep Ahlawat, who played no-nonsense cop Hathiram Chaudhary, will feature the lead actor in a second season. Paatal Lok season 2 will also see the return of actors Gul Panag, and Ishwak Singh, who reprise their roles of Hathiram’s wife Renu, and assistant cop Imran, respectively. Created by Sudip SharmaSeason 2 of Paatal Lok will also get a new entry into the world that explores the cruel underbelly of society. The new cast includes Tillotama Shome, and Nagesh Kukunoor.

Backed by Clean Slate Filmz Production, in association with Eunoia Films LLP, Paatal Lok season 2 will begin its Prime Video slate in 2025.
