IT Minister Nara Lokesh’s nine-year-old son Devaansh has reportedly set a record in the ‘Fastest Checkmate Solver – 175 Puzzles’ category. The World Book of Records issued a certificate to that effect dated December 21.
According to a press release, it was a record-breaking event that featured Devaansh tackling a series of continuous puzzle-testing challenges, selected from the famous chess collection ‘5334 Problems, Combinations, and Games by László Polgár in tight time.
Mr. Lokesh said he was happy with Devaansh’s achievement and said it happened because of the support of his mother Brahmani and the guidance of coach K. Rajashekar Reddy. He revealed that Devaansh trained hard for the last six months with a laser focus and was inspired by the good performance of Indian chess players on the world stage.
Coach Rajashekar Reddy said that Devaansh was learning chess very smartly and his mental acuity was great as he was able to solve 175 complex puzzles. Devaansh also achieved two more records for completing the seven-disc Tower of Hanoi in one minute and 43 seconds, and arranged nine chess boards in five minutes with all 32 pieces in the correct positions. All record attempts were carefully scrutinized by judges and officials of the World Book of Records, London.
