The Hemant Soren government in Jharkhand will release an enhanced amount of Rs 2,500 to the beneficiaries. Maiya Samman Yojana from December 28.
I Maiya Samman Yojana aims to develop women economically and socially, especially in rural areas, by promoting self-reliance and strengthening the rural economy.
A grand function has been organized at Army Ground, Namkum, Ranchi area, where Chief Minister Hemant Soren will officially release funds from the accounts of 55 lakh women.
Around five lakh women, including those from far-flung districts like Sahibganj and Dumka in Santhal Pargana division, are expected to attend the event.
The grant fulfills a key election promise made by Soren, who promised to increase benefits if the INDIA party returns to power.
The scheme, which once gave installments of Rs 1,000 20 to around 50 lakh women, proved to be key in the recent assembly elections, significantly increasing the number of women voters and helping the INDIA bloc win.
By putting money directly into women’s hands, the Soren government is looking at long-term social and economic development.
