Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is at the health center two day visit to Kuwait, had a heartfelt meeting with 101-year-old Mangal Sain Handa, a former Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer. This communication happened after the complaint of Handa’s grandson on social media.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Kuwait, the first by an Indian prime minister in 43 years, was at the invitation of the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. On his arrival in Kuwait on Saturday, PM Modi interacted with the Indian community.
On arrival, PM Modi visited the hotel where he graciously met Mangal Sain Handa. The meeting was organized following a request from X (former Twitter) Handa’s granddaughter, Shreya Juneja, who described her grandfather as a “great admirer” of the Prime Minister.
“Humble request to Hon’ble PM @narendramodi to meet my 101 year old Nanaji, former IFS officer, in Kuwait during tomorrow’s engagement with Indian Diaspora. Nana @MangalSainHanda likes yours very much. Details emailed in your office,” Shreya told X.
PM Modi quickly agreed to the meeting. “Absolutely! Looking forward to meeting @MangalSainHanda Ji in Kuwait today,” he wrote back.
Getting a response from the Prime Minister on her X post, Shruti said that the PM has won their hearts “again” and her grandfather is very happy.
“It’s an honor to receive a reply from you sir! You have won our hearts again. Nanaji @MangalSainHanda is so happy, and her smile means the world to us. We are so grateful for this kind gesture,” he wrote. .
In particular, Prime Minister Modi had wished Mangal Sain Handa on his 100th birthday in his personal letter and praised his contributions to India’s service efforts.
Handa then took X and thanked the Prime Minister for his gesture, saying, “I am very grateful to our honorable @PMOIndia @narendramodi for sending his best wishes on my 100th birthday. I have lived 100 years to see India. grow under his leadership” .
PM Modi’s engagement in Kuwait includes visiting an Indian labor camp, interacting with the Indian community and the opening ceremony of the Gulf Cup football tournament.
The last Prime Minister of India to visit Kuwait was Indira Gandhi in 1981.
