Two days after arresting a teacher (39) of a private school for allegedly sexually abusing two boys, the Pune police have arrested the school director (40) for failing to ensure the safety and security of children under the school. the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.
Meanwhile, in addition to the 10- and 11-year-old boys who are accused of being sexually abused by the accused teacher, two other students, aged eight and nine, have come forward, accusing the teacher of sexual abuse, said Pune police. Two separate cases have been registered against teachers under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) at the city police station.
Pune police on Tuesday arrested a dance teacher on charges of sexually abusing two boys aged 10 and 11 on multiple occasions. On Wednesday, two other boys also accused the teacher of sexually abusing them, making the number of students said to have been abused by the teacher to four.
“On Thursday we arrested a 40-year-old school director under one of the two charges registered in the case where we added Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act. The parents accused him of failing to ensure the safety, security and well-being of the children from any form of physical, mental or sexual abuse,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam.
“As part of the investigation, we will investigate whether the suspected teacher has been thoroughly checked on the website, whether there is any safety and security in place including monitoring, and whether security cameras have been installed. Prima facie there was no delay on the part of the school authorities to report the matter to the police. The school authorities took adequate steps after the incident came to light, as per the instructions of the POCSO. The director will be produced before the court on Friday,” he added.
Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act reads as follows, ‘Whoever, who is guilty of actual, or controlling, a child, beats, abandons, abuses, exposes or willfully neglects a child or causes or causes a child to be beaten, abandoned, abused. , exposed or neglected in a manner likely to cause that child unnecessary mental or physical suffering, shall be punished by imprisonment for a long period. which may extend to three years or a fine of one lakh rupees or with both.”
