Dominique Pelicot was found guilty and sentenced to 20 years in prison for drugging his ex-wife, Gisèle, raping her and inviting a number of men to abuse her for almost ten years, among other crimes.
Pelicot had pleaded guilty to the charges against him.
He was on trial with 50 other men, most of whom denied the rape charges. A court in the French city of Avignon found 47 men guilty of rape, two of attempted rape, and two of sexual harassment.
The defendants now have 10 days to appeal.
Most of the 50 are from towns and villages within 50 kilometers (30 miles) of the village of Pelicot in Mazan.
Among them they are firefighters, truck drivers, soldiers, security guards, a journalist and a DJ.
Here is the list of convicted men. The BBC had not named the defendants in full previously due to French law.
