Digital University Kerala (DUK) Vice Chancellor in charge Ciza Thomas inaugurated the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) CASIF Open Source Chips Movement Program held at Technopark on Wednesday.
The event brought together open source hardware experts to discuss groundbreaking advances in RF (radio frequency) and neuromorphic technology.
Anu Sebastian from IBM Research, a pioneer in the field of neuromorphic computing, presented the keynote speech. He provided in-depth insights into how open source hardware is revolutionizing AI and machine learning by enabling rapid prototyping and collaborative problem solving. Dr. Sebastian also presented some examples of tools and frameworks that pave the way for scalable and energy-efficient AI solutions.
Professor Alex James, Dean, of DUK said that open source programs are not only a technological movement, but also a cultural change that promotes equality and innovation.
Panel discussions were also held on the role of semiconductor manufacturing facilities and their importance in strengthening the country’s technological ecosystem.
