“We both hold ourselves accountable to completing our workouts, in addition to eating healthy and staying as active as possible,” he explained. “Even when we’re on vacation, we’re still prioritizing our fitness program — it’s centered around our lifestyle.”

Magic and Cookie’s return may come when the couple embark on a weeks-long pre-birthday trip across Italy and Croatia, which they both chronicled extensively on social media.

The former legend of the Lakers also explained how dedication to life and health has become a complete family matter that was passed on to their children: sons. Andre,43, and EJ32, and a daughter Elisa29.

“Everyone’s path is different when it comes to staying fit and eating healthy and that’s what’s happening with our kids,” explained Magic. “Cookie and I encouraged our children to exercise and be active, but they liked to exercise and eat healthy in their spare time. It takes incredible self-discipline, focus and drive to want to exercise every day. “

Now, Magic is helping to pass that knowledge and passion on to a new generation through his investment company, Magic Johnson Enterprises. The group partnered with F45 Training to donate over 4,000 F45 Fit Kits to support the health and well-being of children and youth across the country.

Each kit contains equipment such as jump ropes, cones, stepladders that can be used in age-appropriate exercise routines.

“I like that they provide a good workout and can be used indoors and outdoors,” Magic said. “That’s the great thing about F45 Fit Kits – they help us get back into active movement. With skipping rope, cones and stepladders, we give kids the chance to be creative when it comes to creating fitness routines that work best for them – no matter what their level or where they might need to exercise.”

Recipients of the kits include the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation and the NFL’s Washington Commanders — both teams in which the Magic have an ownership stake — in addition to the Crenshaw (CA) YMCA and various Boys & Girls Clubs of California and DC.

“The hope is to affect as many children as possible with the F45 list because exercise and movement are very important for children, especially these days when childhood obesity is increasing,” commented Magic. “While we are starting with the Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCAs, and groups I belong to in California and DC, the goal is to continue to identify organizations across the country that can use F45 kits for children in need.”
