Eight-meter crocodile enters the walkway of Sathanur dam in Tamil Nadu, man chases it away with a stick – Tamil Nadu News

An 8-metre crocodile, which had entered the tunnel of one of the water channels of the Sathanur dam in Tiruvannamalai on Tuesday, was chased away by a worker with just a stick.

This crocodile entered the path that was set for tourists and it was reported that it was washed away by the recent floods. Due to heavy rainfall in the region, about lakh cusecs of water has been released into the river recently.

The dam authorities immediately alerted the public using sirens. However, a man was seen chasing away the crocodile without fear with only a long stick. The video of the man trying to chase away the crocodile has gone viral on social media.

Sources say that the crocodile, which is about 8 meters long, must have entered through one such gate and entered the corridor designed for visitors. They say that this reptile may have been sitting on the road to die in the sun.

The rapid flow of water has become an attraction for many people in the area after the release of flood water from the Sengam dam.

As the water level reached 117.4 feet, which is almost the full capacity of 119 feet of the dam, more water was released through the spillway gates continuously.
