Author, model and Elon Musk’s mother Maye Musk gives updates on her son’s DOGE plans and applauds his accomplishments, while commenting on Elon’s grand goals of ‘doing good.’
Elon Musk’s mother, Maye Musk, expresses her pride in her son’s commitment to helping the US economy, clarifying that her son’s position as chairman of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is all based on volunteers.
“[Elon and Vivek Ramaswamy] and they want to share their knowledge with them [Trump]and they volunteer, they don’t need income,” Maye told FOX Business’ Stuart Varney on Monday.
“They volunteer to help in certain areas where they have knowledge. And I just light up when I hear all that,” he continued.
Elon and his co-chairman Ramaswamy have begun dropping hints about where DOGE will focus its efforts to cut federal spending when the new administration takes office in January.

Musk, the world’s richest man known for his ambitious goals, has set himself the goal of eliminating $2 billion under the scheme, while Ramaswamy, a billionaire himself, said all structures would be “removed” under the DOGE’s recommendations.

Some of these proposals include simplifying the US tax code, inspecting the Pentagon, ending the remote work of federal employees, reexamining outdated congressional programs, modernizing IT systems and protecting federal health care and Social Security benefits – to name a few.
“And everyone volunteers,” Maye explained to the DOGE staff, “to help [Elon] and Vivek.”
DOGE’s official X account started posting job applications for the startup team last month, but did not specify whether the positions were paid.
In response to one user on X who asked about DOGE’s possible salaries, Elon said: “Of course, this will be a tedious job, making a lot of enemies and the compensation is zero. What a good thing!”
When asked how long Maye thinks the personal and professional relationship will last between her son and the president-elect, she noted that it may not be limited.

“They both seem very sincere, so I don’t see why it won’t last long. I have high hopes,” he said in a “Varney & Co” pre-recorded episode. interview that aired on Tuesday.
“I just think even if all the problems are solved, which may take a while, I think they will still be good friends.”
