Tamil Nadu’s main opposition party AIADMK on Sunday accused the Center of drafting laws in Hindi and Sanskrit as tantamount to imposing indirect Hindi and urged the union government to draft laws in English.
In its executive committee and general council meeting here, the party in a resolution said that Hindi is one of the 22 languages ​​listed in the eighth schedule of the Constitution. In Tamil Nadu, the bilingual formula of Tamil and English continues to be in vogue.
“Under the circumstances, the central government enacting laws in Hindi and Sanskrit can only be considered as imposing Hindi indirectly. It is highly condemnable that the Center has changed the wording of three criminal laws, which were already in English,” the ruling said. said.

The party demanded that the subject ‘education’ be restored under the list of states in the Constitution and urged the Center to make the transfer of funds to Tamil Nadu impartial.
The group, in total, made 16 resolutions, including one criticizing the country’s government for not taking steps to free Muslim prisoners who have been imprisoned for more than 20 years. DMK has promises for their release, AIADMK said.

While the resolution that vowed to make Palaniswami the chief minister and win the 2026 Assembly elections was accepted, he criticized the DMK regime for not fulfilling the promises made before the 2021 Assembly polls.
In his speech, Palaniswami said that the DMK has promised to conduct the Assembly process for 100 days a year.
However, from 2021, so far it has held only 113 days and this was due to the ruling party’s ‘fear’ of AIADMK.
The DMK government should have held sessions lasting 400 days, as per the DMK guarantee, he said.
Furthermore, he asked why the government has so far not implemented its guarantee of live broadcasting of the proceedings of the Assembly. He accused the government of ‘fabricating’ the speeches of AIADMK legislators.
During the 10-year AIADMK regime, the government successfully tackled this situation following many storms, bringing in an internal retention of 7.5 percent, facilitating the admission of oppressed people from government schools to government-run medical colleges.
He also listed many other programs during the AIADMK rule, including infra-construction projects like dams for testing dams, and providing relief to people during the coronavirus crisis.
