Congress convened on Saturday 11 resolutions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speech in the Lok Sabha as “empty” and called him a “distorian” par excellence who “puts WhatsApp University to shame.”
The Opposition also questioned why Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh were not present in the House when Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi spoke while participating in the two-day debate on “The Glorious Journey of 75 Years of the Constitution of India.”
Prime Minister Modi on Saturday said that the Congress, “tasting blood”, has also harmed the Constitution while the policies and decisions of his government since taking office in 2014 are aimed at increasing the strength and unity of India in accordance with the Constitution.
Asked about the Prime Minister’s remarks, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra likened her 110-minute speech in the Lok Sabha to “double maths time” in a “bored-out” school.
He criticized his 11 decisions as “useless” and said that if there is no tolerance for corruption then why is the BJP not agreeing to a discussion on the Adani issue.
“The PM has never said anything new, he is tired. It took me decades back, I felt like I was sitting in that double period of Mathematics,” he said.
“(JP) Nadda ji was also rubbing his hands but as soon as Modi ji looked at him, he started pretending to listen carefully. Amit Shah also had his hand on his head, (Piyush) Goyal ji was going to sleep. It was something new for me. I thought the Prime Minister would say something new, something good. ,” he said.
Congress general secretary in charge of communications Jairam Ramesh said, “Mr. Narendra Modi has an MA in All Political Science — whatever that means. Today in the Lok Sabha he showed that he is also a Distorian of the highest caliber.”
“Some people lie for their own benefit, but our PM who calls himself a non-biological PM does that because it is in his nature. He puts WhatsApp University to shame,” said Ramesh.
The general secretary of the ruling Congress KC Venugopal on X termed Modi’s speech as a joke against his party.
“In the discussion about the Constitution of India, the Prime Minister again decided to express his tired old speech about the Congress. When people were waiting for an answer from him about the injustice and inequality facing the Indian society, he chose to discuss the old issues. against the Congress, which has lost all resonance among the public,” he said.
“The truth is, he has no answer to the allegations about Adani’s big scandal, and he has no answer to the growing sectarian and religious divisions created by his regime.”
“An unscrupulous Prime Minister whose political geniuses rejected the Constitution from day one will never be accepted by the people as loyal to the Constitution. No matter how many speeches he makes, his hypocrisy will be exposed,” said Venugopal.
He also told reporters that there was nothing new in what the Prime Minister said in Parliament on Saturday. “It was just a blame game on Congress.”
Venugopal alleged that the Prime Minister is using all government machinery to give everything to one person, referring to industrialist Gautam Adani.
“Every time we talk about the Constitution, they did not respect the Parliament. When the LoP spoke, the prime minister, the home minister and the defense minister were not there, they may be afraid of Rahul Gandhi or they believe in opposition politics,” he said.
Congress deputy leader in Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi said Modi should thank party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi for raising the idea of a special discussion on the Constitution of India.
“It was because of the foresight of the Congress party that there was a heated discussion. We disagree with the BJP on many issues, but the people of this country need to see the Parliament discussing issues that affect the entire country,” he said.
Congress Chief Whip Manickam Tagore said the leader of the opposition was present when the Prime Minister addressed the House, but Modi was not there when Gandhi spoke. “Why are you behaving like this, Prime Minister?” he asked.
