A crocodile was reported to have been spotted in the KC Canal, near the Bhanuka Charla Earth Regulator in Pamulapadu district on Friday (December 13), causing great fear among the residents.
The farmers informed the forest officials that this was not the first incident in the area, a few days ago, another crocodile was spotted on the National Highway near Tangdancha village on the border of Kurnool district. This unexpected appearance scared passers-by and locals as they said they saw a crocodile crossing the road. After that sighting, the alligator disappeared and was not seen again until the reptile was recently spotted in the KC Canal. Forest officials are yet to confirm whether there are two crocodiles or the reptiles are the same.
The sudden presence of this crocodile in the canal has left farmers and villagers confused and uneasy. Responding to the situation, forest officials quickly arrived at the scene after being informed. The team conducted a thorough investigation of the area. Understanding how tense the situation is, officials have advised the people of the area, especially farmers, not to go to the KC Canal, complaining that they are worried about their safety as the crocodile’s whereabouts are still unclear. The officials warned women against washing clothes on the steps of the drain, telling them to be careful. High water levels in the KC Canal make finding and identifying alligators difficult, as visibility is greatly reduced. These officials said that they will take measures to reduce the flow of water in the canal, with the aim of catching the crocodile safely as soon as possible. If necessary, drone cameras will be installed to track the movement of the reptile, officials said.
