A massive fire at a hospital in Tamil Nadu’s Dindigul has killed 6, including young children | Indian news

At least six people, including a young boy, died in a private hospital in Tamil Nadu after a massive fire broke out. The incident took place in Tamil Nadu’s Dindigul district on Thursday.

All six were found unconscious inside the building’s elevator, police and the Fire Department said. They were rushed to another hospital where doctors declared them dead. The victims suffocated and died inside the elevator while the Fire Department was conducting a search and rescue operation at the hospital.

Rescue teams ended up evacuating at least 30 patients and doctors from the building. The evacuated people have been admitted to the district government hospital, officials said.

The fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit, said the police citing the initial investigation.

Pictures of this incident showed many fire tenders when fire and smoke broke out in the hospital building.
