Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday said the alleged link between Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and Hungarian-American businessman George Soros was “very bad” and public.
He also urged the citizens of the country to remain united against anti-India things and said that the government is ready for dialogue.
“The issue of George Soros was raised in Parliament,” Riiju told reporters today.
“The report is in the public domain and there are serious allegations in it. No matter what party the leader comes from. I don’t want to name them. This Soros is working with India,” said Rijiju.
“I only appeal to remain united against things that are against India,” said Rijiju, adding, “The government is always ready to negotiate.”
WHAT IS THE LAW?
On December 8, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleged that Sonia Gandhi has links with an organization funded by the George Soros Foundation that supports the idea of Kashmir as an independent nation.
This organization shows the influence of foreign companies in India’s internal affairs, the ruling party said in a series of posts on X.
Meanwhile, despite the US rejecting the BJP’s allegations that it supports efforts to discredit India, the party’s MP Nishikant Dubey said he will ask 10 questions to Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha on the issue.
He said that the media portal Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and Hungarian-American businessmen have joined forces with the opposition to destroy the Indian economy and defame the Modi government.

The BJP said that Sonia Gandhi, as the co-president of the Forum of the Democratic Leaders in Asia Pacific (FDL-AP) Foundation, is connected with an organization funded by the George Soros Foundation.
“In particular, the FDL-AP Foundation has expressed its views treating Kashmir as a separate entity,” the group said.
“This association between Sonia Gandhi and the movement that supports the idea of Kashmir as an independent state reveals the influence of foreign parties in India’s internal affairs and the political impact of such communication,” he said.
The BJP also said that Sonia Gandhi’s chairmanship of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation led to a partnership with the George Soros Foundation, which “shows the impact of foreign funding on Indian organisations”.
“Rahul Gandhi’s press conference on Adani was broadcast live by the George Soros-backed OCCRP, which Gandhi used as a source to criticize Adani. It shows nothing but their strong and dangerous relationship and highlights their efforts to destroy the Indian economy. “
“MP Shashi Tharoor has publicly acknowledged George Soros as an ‘old friend’. It is truly remarkable,” he said.
The BJP’s allegations come after it said on Thursday that the US “deep state” had colluded with the OCCRP and Rahul Gandhi to damage India’s image.
