Yellowjackets viewers were surprised by many shocking buildings ahead of the show’s third season.
The series features a dual timeline where viewers follow a high school football team in the past as they survive a plane crash in the desert before reuniting as adults more than two decades later.
In the second season, ending in May 2023, Lottie (Courtney Eaton) stepped down as the leader of the previous group and passed the role to Natalie (Sophie Thatcher). After the youth ate Javi (Luciano Leroux) were a team, they were awakened by the fire started by coach Ben (Steven Krueger) who burned down their house.
The present day timeline, on the other hand, took a dark turn when Lottie (Simon Kessell) suggested that the group had to choose a dark sacrifice. Lisa (Nicole Maines) stepped in to try to protect Lottie, and as a result, Misty (Christina Ricci) almost poisoned him to death. But at the last minute, Natalie (Juliette Lewis) stepped in to protect Lisa and was actually the one who was going to die.
After the shocking ending was revealed, Ricci revealed that the cast was kept in the dark about the decision to kill off the old Natalie.
“I didn’t know until we were about to shoot the episode. We all love Juliette. I love Juliette. We’ve all been through a lot on the show and we’ve gotten really close and we’ve fought and we’ve reconciled and we’ve loved each other — and we’re like sisters,” she recalled. Variety. “I think we were all very sad and sad that Natalie was dying. And it was difficult to shoot. It was very emotional. We shot a lot more than the last episode of me holding Juliette dying and stuff. Those were really difficult scenes, and really upsetting. I met Juliette the next day at the airport, and we both started crying again.”
The actress revealed that Misty will struggle with how her decision led to Natalie’s death, adding, “It was a complete mistake. He made an unexpected choice—another immature, reckless, and selfish choice where he would kill someone who would hurt his friend. Not wanting to be taken by his friends, it’s about keeping what he wants. It was a bad decision.”

Where does the story begin?

In the current timeline, Natalie was killed by Misty with a phenobarbital injection administered to Lisa. Death seemed to please Lottie, who decided that the darkness was there for her and accepted Natalie as a sacrifice. Lottie also said to Van (Lauren Ambrose) that because of that, the darkness will cure his cancer.
The previous timeline focused on the aftermath of Javi’s drowning and how the group prepared him as their next meal. Travis (Kevin Alves) gave his permission for the others to eat his brother by biting off a piece of Javi’s heart. “The thing that’s always important to us is that the timelines are really connected in terms of the characters and the context of the characters and the consequences of what they went through didn’t end in the past,” he added in November 2024. “What we’re seeing is a continuation of some of the tension and resentment that was building in season 2. And those play a big role in how the girls continue to work together this season.”

“The truth is there’s a bonus episode but we might have to wait a long time,” Lyle told EW before being asked how the show would deal with the past timeline entering the cannibals phase. “We will definitely play this season. The cannibal cat is out of the bag.”
When will Season 3 air?
Deadline reported in January 2024 that the season 3 writers room reopened three months ago. Due to the delay of the Hollywood strikes, the third season of the hit Showtime series will not air until February 14, 2025, with a two-episode premiere.

After the end of season 2, Lewis confirmed his exit from the show.

Lewis has yet to say whether there is a possibility that he will return in a flashback sequence. Misty, however, will continue to be affected by Natalie’s death.
“Misty is handling it well,” Lyle laughed EW November 2024, “Natalie’s death hits Misty hard emotionally, but I think her transformation is felt by everyone.”

Despite his character’s death on screen, Lewis told The Hollywood Reporter in January 2024 that he would say that he will return in a flashback.
“I don’t know anything,” he said at the time. “But I think that’s a good idea. We’ll see what happens.”
Why Was Production Scheduled To Be Pushed?
