Punjab farmers’ leader Sarwan Singh Pandher on Saturday said that they have not received a message from the Center about talks to address their problems and said that a group of 101 farmers will start their march to Delhi again on December 8.
On Friday, the protesting farmers called off their foot march to the national capital the next day some of them were injured due to the tear gas shells fired by the guardswho stationed them at the Punjab-Haryana border. Farmers have been demanding various demands, including a formal guarantee of MSP.
Speaking to the media in Shambhu on the Punjab-Haryana border on Saturday, Pandher said that 16 farmers were injured and one of them could not hear anymore due to the tear gas attack by the Haryana security forces.
Apart from the four injured farmers, all others have been discharged from the hospital, he said, adding, “We have not received a message from the Center to hold talks.” The Narendra Modi government is not willing to hold talks. ” He added that Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have already decided that the ‘jatha’ of 101 farmers will again march towards the national capital on Sunday afternoon in a peaceful manner.
Meanwhile, the Haryana police are determined to stop the media at a distance of “at least one kilometer” on Sunday as the Jatha protesting farmers begin their march.
ADGP (Law and Order) of Haryana Sanjay Kumar wrote to the DGPs of Haryana and Punjab that “in the interest of safety of media persons and their equipment”, media persons should be kept at a safe distance of “minimum 1 km”.
On December 6, when the farmers started marching towards the Haryana border, a large number of media accompanied them. “Due to this, the Haryana police have faced many problems in handling the law and order situation”, the ADGP wrote.
